Anas bin Malik, may Allah is pleased with him, narrated that Messenger Muhammad [sallalla Allah alayhi wasalam] said,
‘None of you will be truly a believer until I am dearer to him than his son, his father, and all people.’ [Sahih Muslim]
The meaning of the hadith is as follows: a person’s belief will be complete when he knows that the right of Messenger Muhammad on him is greater than that of his father, his son, and all people because Messenger Muhammad is the cause of saving this person from Hell and guiding him to the path of guidance leading to Paradise. [Commentary on the Forty Hadith of an-Nawawi]
