It mentions the punishment that befell them to be a lesson for those who take heed and learn from the evil end of the wrongdoers. 69:9 And Pharaoh and the before him and the people of the overthrown cities committed sins. 69:10 And they disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with an overpowering punishment.
Most Important Topics Discussed in Surah Al-Haqqah
The main theme of surah Al-Haqqah is the same as the main theme of surahs that were revealed in Makkah. It focuses on the principles of the creed of the Oneness of Allah, Exalted be He. It also speaks about some horrors of the Day of Judgment, confirms the truthfulness of the revelation that Allah revealed to Messenger Muhammad [peace be upon him], affirms that the Quran is the speech of Allah, and absolves Messenger Muhammad of all false accusations of the disbelievers.
Surah Al-Haqqah begins by speaking about the Day of Judgment, its great horrors, the rejection of the former nations to messages of their Messengers, and punishing them with severe punishment.
69:3 And what shall make you know what is the Inevitable Reality?
69:4 Thamud and ‘Ad denied the Calamity.
69:5 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering cry.
69:6 And as for ‘Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent wind.
Then, surah Al-Haqqah mentions some scenes of the Day of Judgment.
69:13 Then, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast,
69:14 and the earth and the mountains are lifted and crushed with a single blow,
69:19 And as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, ‘Take and read my book!
69:25 And as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, ‘Ah! Would that I had not been given my book,
69:26 and I had not known what my reckoning would be.
After that surah Al-Haqqah confirms that the Quran is the speech of Allah and that He revealed it to Messenger Muhammad. It is not the speech of a poet nor soothsayer.
69:40 Indeed, it is the speech of a noble Messenger.
69:41 And it is not the speech of a poet. Little do you believe,
69:42 and nor is it the speech of a soothsayer. Little do you take heed.
Finally, surah Al-Haqqah is concluded with confirming the truthfulness of Messenger Muhammad and that the Quran is a reminder to the worlds.
69:43 It is a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.
69:48 And verily, it is a Reminder for the God-fearing.
